By Renee | 16/Jan/2025
So recently I was getting frequent DNS Probe Finished No Internet or also known as Dns_Probe_Finished_No_Internet when browsing Google Chrome. It’s actually one of Chrome’s most common connection errors and unfortunately, we can meet it basically every day. So, what is DNS? Why Dns_Probe_Finished_No_Internet happens normally? How to fix this DNS error easily? Let’s dig out.
What is DNS?
The DNS (Domain Name System) is the bridge of the Internet, providing a way to connect names (say YouTube) with numbers (the address for the website). Anything connected to the Internet – websites and your devices like laptops, tablets, mobile phones — has an IP address made up of numbers. Your bookmarked website might have an IP address like 32.202.124.17, but this is obviously not easy to remember. However, a domain name such as YouTube.com is something people can recognize and remember much more easily.
Why Dns_Probe_Finished_No_Internet happens?
An error message saying Dns_Probe_Finished_No_Internet is trying to tell you that the DNS server on your devices is unable to process your request (visit the website you just typed) because there is no connection available. Yes. Your network connection is the problem.
However, sometimes this DNS error could be caused by other problems. Therefore, you could not solve the problem by just focusing on the DNS server problem. Instead, you could first try to clear browser data and optimize network speed within two clicks using Neptune SystemCare.
How to fix this DNS error?
Luckily, it is easy to fix the problem with the solutions below, and you could work down the list with the method ranking from Easy to Difficult and find the one that helps you.

Solution 2 Command Prompt to reset network adapter
It has been proved by many Windows users that using Command Prompt is able to fix the DNS Probe Finished No Internet Error in Windows 10.
Step 1 Press Windows + R on the keyboard at the same time to open the Run box.
Step 2 Enter cmd, then click OK to open Command Prompt
Step 3 Run the following commands one by one:
ipconfig /release
ipconfig /all
ipconfig /flushdns
ipconfig /renew
netsh int ip set dns
netsh winsock reset
Step 4 Restart your computer when you have run all the commands given above.
Solution 3 Change DNS server
If you're using the ISP's (Internet Service Provider) default DNS or the router's DNS, then the problem could be caused by the DNS itself. Change the current DNS to Google's public DNS could help.
Step 1 Go to Control Panel>Network and Sharing Center.
Step 2 Click Change adapter settings.
Step 3 Right-click the network you are using now and click Properties.
Step 4 Scroll down the list to find Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) and click Properties.
Step 5 Under Use the following DNS server addresses, set Preferred DNS server as 8.8.8.8 and set Alternate DNS server as 8.8.4.4. Then click OK.
Here if you want to use OpenDNS, you need to set Preferred DNS server as 208.67.222.222 and set Alternate DNS server as 208.67.220.220.
Solution 4 Check out your Firewall and Internet Security Settings
For security question, it is possible that your firewall or internet security software will block several websites that are figured as the threat websites. You need to check out and ensure the firewall and internet security software settings then make sure if they are preventing the programs. You also need to notice that your Windows and browser have not blocked by the firewall because you are visiting the malware.
