In fact, most of the users won’t uninstall any programs unless they are literally annoying and having a big bad impact on work efficiency and productivity. Simply deleting their files or folders won’t uninstall the programs. If you want your Windows computer to run faster and smoother, it is necessary to get rid of some dump files or unwanted applications.

Note: Except for removing or uninstalling unnecessary programs on your PC, there are still many other inconspicuous files like temporary files, hard drive defragments, and old-and-left video pieces—all of them hogs your computer resources and slow down the whole performance. Here’s how to delete or uninstall programs on Windows 8.

Method 1 Windows 8 Control Panel

Uninstalling a program from Windows 8 doesn’t take much effort through Control Panel.

1. Right-click on the Windows icon in the screen’s bottom-left corner and choose the Control Panel from the pop-up menu.

2. When the Control Panel appears, choose Programs and Features to uninstall a program from the category.

If you want to free up more disk space in passing, click the Installed On or Size column header to find old or large programs. Then uninstall those forgotten programs you never or rarely use.

3. Click the unwanted program and then click its Uninstall/Change button.

Uninstall: This completely removes the program from your PC. (Some programs list this button as Uninstall/Change.)

Change: This lets you change some of the program’s features or remove parts of it.

Method 2 Windows Start

1. Right-click on the tile after clicking on Windows Start Page. Let’s say we try to uninstall Chrome here.

2. Right-click on it and choose to Uninstall. Then follow the instruction to uninstall the app.

This is how to install programs on Windows 8 normally.

However, stubborn programs may refuse to uninstall like normal. Common programs will include with their installation an uninstall option located either within the start menu shortcut, on the desktop or within the program folder, but the sneaky apps won’t do. They are designed to stay on your system as long as possible for money or other unfriendly purposes. When you encounter this kind of problem, you may want to follow the guide How do you get rid of apps you don't want on Windows 10. The screen shots in this article are shown in Windows 10, but all the fixes apply to Windows 7 and Windows 8/8.1 as well. The ways worked on Windows 8 and 10 are pretty much the same.
