DPC watchdog violation has become an annoying problem for the new Windows 8 or 10 users. The common problem is that there is a prompt "DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION" on a blue screen and an error code "0x00000133" when you upgrade your system to Windows 8/10. It's occurred due to some specific reasons, like unsupported SSD firmware, old SSD driver version, hardware incompatibility issues, or system files are corrupted. In this article, you are going to get the plain explanation of the common causes and related efficient solutions.
Method 1 | Check for Corrupted Hard Drive
This method is to the case that you have incorrectly configured, old or corrupted drivers that cause blue screen error.
Step 1 - Open Start menu and type cmd in the search box. Right-click on the “Command Prompt” option and then choose the Run as administrator option.
Step 2 - A dialogue box would ask for administrator permission just click on Yes.
Step 3 - A command window will open, type chkdsk c: /f /r in the box and press enter. Then type Y for the checking when you next start the computer.
Step 4- Now restart the computer so that Windows may check for the hard disk.
Method 2 | Update Chipset Driver
It can almost be caused by the incompatibility of drivers resulted from iastor.sys. Such situation may attribute to the incomplete compatibility of iastor.sys and Windows 8/10. You can try the following steps to change problematic drivers with Microsoft storahci.sys, continuing to use your computer.
Step 1- Go to Device Manager by searching in the search box from Start menu.
Step 2- Find the IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers option and expand.
Step 3- Then right-click the option with the name SATA ACHI on it and choose Properties.
Step 4- Under Driver tab, choose to Update Driver…
Step 5- Then choose the option Browse my computer for driver software.
Step 6- Then choose Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer.
Step 7 – Find and choose Standard SATA AHCI Controller from the list. Then click Next to continue and complete the rest of the procedure as instructed.
Step 8 - To let all the changes take place you need to restart your computer.
Method 3 | Go back to the last good configuration
If the methods above can’t help you solve the DPC_Watchdog_Violation issue, then I would suggest you restore your Windows system. It means that you can recover your previous build to get rid of the Windows error. To do this with Neptune SystemCare Ultimate is much easier.
->On the top of the interface, you can see a list of buttons. The second button is for creating a restore point, and the third one is for recovering from the restored version.
