Usually, after you upgraded to Windows 10, more or less, the notices popping up from the taskbar would tell you there is some common driver issue like “Wireless network driver is not working” and “Graphic drivers are outdated”. Some of them are of great significance and have a bad impact on using the computer for work or gaming. To fix this kind of driver problems, updating and installing the latest drivers for Windows 10 is one of the best policies.

In fact, a driver is a software that communicates computer with hardware devices. If the driver is outdated, the devices connected to your computer could not work properly. Thus, updating drivers for a new upgrade from Windows 10 could help devices connect to the new system.

To update drivers in Windows 10, here are three ways.

Method 1 Update drivers with Windows Update

Windows Update would automatically download and install the latest drivers for you by default. Even when you manually install the drivers, Windows 10 would sometimes overwrite them as long as a new version is available.

Method 2 Update drivers with Device Manager

If you just hate sudden (automatic) driver updates and have already disabled auto Windows Update, then you might want to try to update drivers manually when necessarily.

1. Right-click on the Windows icon and choose Device Manager from the pop-up menu.

2. Right-click the driver that needs to be update or the ones with yellow exclamation mark beside and choose Update Driver Software… and then follow the on-screen instruction.

3. Next, click Browse my computer for driver software

4. Click on Browse to find the location of the downloaded driver file, then click Next button to install the driver.

5. Restart your computer following the prompt.

Method 3 Use third-party drivers update tool

There is a lot of third-party software offering driver updates solution, which helps you download the driver file with a single click. However, you have no reference to know if the sources they download the drivers are secure enough. If you use a third-party update tool, it is strongly recommended that to use free backup software Neptune SystemCare to create a system restore point.

Note: you should also backup your computer system point even using Windows Update to update the drivers. Things can fail suddenly without warning.

-> Open Neptune SystemCare Ultimate/Premier, on the right top of the screen, there is a horizontal list of buttons.

-> The second button is for creating a system restore point. Click on it and then save the file to an external storage drive, like USB.
