After installing or reinstalling Microsoft Windows system on your HP laptop, you might encounter one, two, three or more yellow mark beside base system devices in Device Manager. This might occur when the drivers for the card reader on your laptop or computer is not properly installed. To solve the problem, you just need to follow the methods below, which apply to Windows XP, Vista, 7/8/8.1/10.

Method 1: Update Drivers in Device Manager

->Press Win + R on the keyboard to open Run command.

->Type devmgmt.msc in the box to open your Device Manager.

->Expand Other devices, right-click to update driver software of the Base System Device.

-> Click Search automatically for updated driver software after. Then Windows will search and find the driver for you.

Method 2: Download the Latest Driver Manually

For Base System Device, it is impossible to know directly what the specific device is, so you could not just head to manufacture’s website to download the latest driver. However, you could get some information to decide what the device is by following:

-> In Device Manager, right-click Base System Device device and click Properties.

-> Click the Details tab, then select Hardware Ids.

-> The VEN code means vendor and the DEV code means device. Go to www.pcidatabase.com. Enter the two codes and click the Search buttons.

  Then you will get the device name and the vendor name. The “Chip Description” means the device name.

  Afterwards, you can go to the PC manufacturer’s website or the device manufacturer’s website to download the driver.

Method 3 Update the Drivers Automatically
