The mission of Dolby Digital Plus is to deliver better sound quality. It helps users hear dialogue and details clearly, maximizes equipment capabilities intelligently, and creates a more realistic experience on devices. Dolby Digital Plus increases the bit rate, improves the encoding, adds more channels, and provides backward compatibility.
Dolby Digital Plus enables the Dolby Audio experience across home theatres, smartphones, operating systems, and browsers. We can easily find and set Dolby Audio on our smartphones. But how can we enjoy the fantastic music and immersive movie on the laptop/PC? Here we would walk you through the steps to install Dolby Digital Plus on Windows 10.
First of all, you should pick a Dolby Digital Plus version: Dolby Digital Plus Advance Audio and Dolby Digital Plus Home Theatre.
Step 1 Disable Driver Signature Enforcement
Open Settings and go to Update & Security tab> Recovery> Advanced start-up >Restart now.
After the computer restarts, click on Troubleshoot > Advanced Option > Startup Settings > Restart.
While restarting, it will show Startup Setting with blue screen background. Press key 7 to disable driver signature enforcement.
Step 2 Install Dolby
1. Download Dolby file. Go to Device Manager, double-click on Sound, video and game Controllers.
Find Realtek High Definition Audio, right click on it and select Update driver software...
2. Follow the instruction on the open Windows.
Click Browse my computer for driver software > Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer > Have disk...
Select Browse and Go to the extracted folder of the file you have downloaded. Go to 32 bit/64 bit>Drivers and click on Open button. (32 bit/64 bit depending on your operating system.)
Check the file box and open, then press OK.
Then, follow the Windows instruction.
Choose Model from the list that you want to install and click on Next button.
Now, the driver software will be installed. As installation completes, click on Close button.
Go to check your driver software in device manager. The item is changed from Realtek High Definition Audio to Dolby.
Go to the folder that you have extracted. Go to 32 bit/64 bit>Setup. Double click on ".msi" file to run it. (Select 32 bit/64 bit depending on your operating system.)
Now you get to the installation and click Next. When the installation is completed, right click on speaker icon on the taskbar and select "Playback devices" from the menu.
Open Speakers Properties, click on Dolby tab>Power button. And it’s done.
Dolby is installed and activated. To open control panel of Dolby, go to Start>Dolby>Dolby Digital Plus. The process is a little bit longer and would cost you 30 mins approximately, but it is totally worth it.
